On a ghost tour, we stopped at this home and were encouraged to put our hands on it. I placed my hands on the side of the building — this was before the more recent 2009 fire. What felt like maybe a minute of touching the brick turned out to be much longer. Almost immediately, I began experiencing intense sensations and vivid visions.
First, there was a bright, blinding yellow light — which I later connected to yellow fever. Then I heard a man whisper his name in my ear, and I saw it written clearly in chalk: “ James.” The experience deepened from there. I had strong feelings and detailed visions of people dying inside the house — not just images, but an overwhelming emotional weight that came with them. It all unfolded with a surprising level of depth and specificity. I then saw a fire, and finally a pentagram — at that point, I immediately pulled my hands away.
Later, I learned that each of these impressions aligned with documented parts of the home’s history. Dr. James was the home’s former owner. The experience wasn’t vague or fleeting — it was layered, detailed, and intensely vivid. The overall feeling was dark and heavy, and it left a lasting impression on me.
