Storyteller, Producer &
Host Carrie Genzel

Carrie Genzel is an actor, producer, and storyteller whose work has long lived at the intersection of horror, mystery, and the unexplained. With a career spanning decades in film and television, she is widely recognized for appearances on Supernatural and The Walking Dead, as well as roles in cult favorites including Jennifer’s Body, Evil Feed, and They’re Watching.
Behind the scenes, Carrie has developed and pitched numerous paranormal television projects, which earned her the reputation among cable networks as “the ghost girl” for her deep familiarity with the genre and its audience. But her connection to the paranormal extends beyond her professional work. Carrie has experienced unexplained phenomena for as long as she can remember, shaping a lifelong pursuit of understanding what lingers—and why.
As the creator and host of Echoes of the South, Carrie blends studio storytelling with on-location investigations, drawing on an extensive network of investigators, historians, authors, educators, and individuals directly connected to the stories being told. Her approach is grounded in respect, curiosity, and a commitment to truth—seeking answers for the living while giving voice to those who remain unheard.

Meet the Investigative Team

Echoes of the South is grounded in a simple belief:

Some stories don’t fade – they wait.

Our investigations are guided by respect, curiosity, and a commitment to uncovering the truth behind the echoes that remain. We approach each location with care – listening as much as we observe, and honoring the history and energy we encounter.

Working alongside creator and host Carrie Genzel is a trusted investigative team that brings both intuitive insight and technical expertise to every case.

About Echoes of the South

Echoes of the South is a podcast investigating Southern hauntings, legends, folklore, and true crime—stories rooted in place, memory, and what refuses to fade.
Blending studio-based storytelling with on-location interviews and investigations, each episode follows mysteries as they unfold across the South. Some stories emerge through firsthand encounters with the unexplained. Others surface through deep dives into infamous cases, forgotten histories, and local legends that continue to shape the places they come from.
Drawing on a wide network of investigators, historians, authors, educators, and individuals directly connected to these stories—including homeowners and business owners of historically significant locations—the series approaches every subject with curiosity, respect, and a commitment to discovery. Rather than offering easy conclusions, Echoes of the South explores what is known, what remains unanswered, and why certain stories continue to echo across generations.
Some stories don’t end.
They echo.
