Lee Marshall has spent much of his life living alongside the unexplained.

After a near-death experience at just three years old, Lee says something changed. By the age of five, he was communicating with what he believed was the spirit of a man who had taken his own life. Decades later, the paranormal remains a thread woven through his life.

Carrie Genzel sits down with her longtime friend and fellow paranormal investigator to talk about the experiences that shaped him, their adventures investigating together in Los Angeles, and Lee’s life today as a ghost tour guide in historic San Antonio, Texas.

From startling apparition photographs captured by guests on his tours to haunted hotels, cemeteries, unexplained encounters, and plenty of laughter along the way, Lee shares what he has witnessed after years spent exploring the paranormal. But one of the most extraordinary stories comes from his own home, when Lee believes an intervention from the other side may have helped save his mother-in-law during a devastating fire.

🏛 San Antonio & the South

Texas has always occupied a distinctive place in Southern history. During the 19th century, migration from states across the South helped shape Texas socially, economically, and culturally, bringing with it the cotton economy and the institution of slavery.

San Antonio became particularly important during the Civil War, serving as a major Confederate supply center and a critical point along the cotton trade route through Mexico. Cotton traveled through San Antonio toward Brownsville and Matamoros, allowing it to reach international markets beyond the Union blockade.

That history is one of the many threads connecting San Antonio to the broader story of the American South.
