Neel House: The Woman in the Photograph

Show Notes

An old photograph found inside Macon’s historic Neel House appears to show a mysterious woman standing in the foyer. No one knows who she is, when the picture was taken, or whether the figure is simply a trick of the light. But for homeowners Sheila and Doug Keene, it’s a mystery worth exploring.

Built in 1910 for Joseph N. Neel and designed by architect Neel Reid, the house has a history that stretches back more than a century. When Carrie Genzel returns with spiritual medium Morrighan Lynne and lead investigator Jonathan Morgan, the team sets out to discover whether the photograph might be connected to something still lingering within its walls.

Upstairs, unusual equipment responses and Morrighan’s impressions lead the team to a young presence identified as Abigail, along with a protective matriarch who seems reluctant to share the family’s secrets.

But in the attic, the investigation takes an emotional turn. Morrighan connects with a woman she identifies as Anna, whose sense of duty appears so deeply ingrained that even death may not have released her from the expectations of her former life. As the team attempts to help Anna find her way home, questions emerge about the lives of those who worked behind the scenes in historic Southern households.

And the investigation doesn’t end when the team leaves.

During evidence review, Carrie discovers what sounds like a young girl’s voice and unexplained footsteps. Then Jonathan uncovers infrared footage showing an unusual light and what appears to be a female apparition near the very spot where the woman in the original photograph was captured.

The team came to the Neel House hoping to understand one mysterious photograph. Could they have left with another?
